ATOMS & VOID  is founded and run by Sergei Loznitsa and Maria Choustova.
Since its creation in 2013, the company has produced and co-produced a catalogue of  Sergei Loznitsa's films. Our current production portfolio includes a collection of documentary and fiction projects at various stages of development and production. ATOMS & VOID also runs a boutique world sales outlet for its selected titles.

Sergei Loznitsa - director, scriptwriter, producer

SERGEI LOZNITSA was born on September 5 th 1964 in Baranovichi (former USSR). He grew up in Kiev (Ukraine, former USSR), and in 1987 graduated from the Kiev Polytechnic with a degree in Applied Mathematics. In 1987-1991 Sergei worked as a scientist at the Kiev Institute of Cybernetics, specializing in artificial intelligence research. In 1997, Loznitsa graduated from the Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow (Russia), and since then dedicated his life entirely to cinema.
In 2000, Loznitsa left Russia and moved to Europe. In 2013, he founded his own production company ATOMS & VOID, based in The Netherlands. Sergei is working both in documentary and fiction genres and is internationally recognized as one of the most prolific and influential auteurs of his generation.

Maria Choustova - producer

MARIA CHOUSTOVA was born in Moscow (Russia, former USSR). Maria graduated from the Philological Faculty of Moscow State University, and then received a degree in Film Studies from the Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). In 1994, Maria moved to Europe and she has been based in the Netherlands since 2000. 

In 2004 – 2009, Maria worked as a film & culture correspondent for the BBC World Service and as Programme Advisor for the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). In 2009, Maria began her career as casting director and creative producer. In 2013, together with Sergei Loznitsa, Maria launched a film production company ATOMS & VOID, and has been working as a producer ever since.
